M.Ac. Program
Master of Acupuncture (M.Ac.) Program
The Master of Acupuncture (M.Ac.) program meets the emerging need of MDs and other licensed Western practitioners for in depth expertise in acupuncture, and traditional Chinese medical theory and diagnosis. The M.Ac. program also meets the need of non-MD students who wish to become Licensed Acupuncturists and study and train in the rich multi-cultural environment of northern California, yet plan to practice outside California. The large Asian population in northern California offers students the opportunity to learn from highly experienced faculty (108) that teach at Five Branches University. The Master of Acupuncture program meets the accreditation requirements of the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), and allows graduates to sit for Certification by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Graduates are recognized as Diplomates in Acupuncture (NCCAOM) or Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM). The program may be completed in 2 to 3 years. Students who already have a complete Western science and Western medicine education can complete the M.Ac. program in two years. Students who need to study Western science and medicine will need three years to complete the program. Details of each program are shown in the following 2-Year and 3-Year M.Ac. Outlines. Except for herbal studies and a few clinical courses which focus on herbal medicine, students in the M.Ac. program will join students of the Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine program in all their courses and clinical training with the same expert faculty. This provides M.Ac. students a broad and dynamic environment in which to learn and practice. Five Branches University is honored to offer the M.Ac. program and play a leadership role in building bridges of expertise between conventional and traditional medicines. These bridges allow the development and implementation of the highest forms of multi-disciplinary and integrative medicine which is becoming the definition of the best health and medical care.FIVE BRANCHES UNIVERSITY
