Scholarships
Five Branches University is committed to providing as much scholarship aid as possible to students in need. Most scholarships funds come from private donors and TCM affiliated organizations who have a sincere interest in supporting Five Branches students and the growth of the TCM profession. Qualifications for scholarships are primarily based on financial necessity, academic merits and strength of essay.
Scholarships available for
the 2008-2009 academic calendar year:
Five Branches Progressive Student Fund
Five Branches University offers three scholarships, awarded each semester to incoming Five Branches Masters Degree students who have been approved by the admission department. Information on how to apply for these scholarships will be provided to students during Student Orientation and Registration.
NuHerbs Scholarship Program
The Future of Chinese Medicine will award three scholarships to further the development of Chinese Medicine by supporting the brightest and most passionate students of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. These scholarships are available to Five Branches University students, registered for the Fall 2008 semester, with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
Three scholarships will be awarded:
- Nuherbs ® Scholarship ($2,000.00)
- Herbal Times ® Scholarship ($1,500.00)
- Jade Dragon ® Scholarship ($1,000.00)

The Trudy McAllister Fund
The Trudy McAllister Fund was established in 2007 to support students of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine who attend ACAOM accredited schools or candidate schools in the United States studying for their First Professional Degree, and for support of research and related activities that promote the advancement of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
The scholarships are divided into two categories:
- Basic support scholarships for students who have completed at least one full academic year of their professional training and who, in the opinion of their faculty, advisors and the advisors of the Fund, show unusual promise in the practice of this medicine.
- Support for students who have entered the last phases of their clinical training or who have undertaken post-graduate studies in Oriental Medicine and who are, in the opinion of faculty and fund advisors, most likely to:
- Contribute to the successful integration of OM into modern American Medicine
- Insure that such integration preserves the historical and classic character, philosophy and practice of OM as it is integrated into this modern contex

Mr. W. Barklie Henry Scholarship
Mr. W. Barklie Henry, a private donor has generously donated $2,500 for scholarship for the 2008 Academic year, to be distributed into two $1250.00 scholarships for MTCM degree students. Any student currently enrolled in their 3 rd, or above semester, with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher is eligible. All applications will be evaluated based on academic achievement, financial necessity, community involvement and strength of essay. Davis Putter Scholarship Fund
The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides grants to students actively working for peace and justice. These need-based scholarships are awarded to those able to do academic work at the university level and who are part of the progressive movement on the campus and in the community. Davis-Putter scholars are both graduate and undergraduate students and must be living in the U. S. and planning to enroll in an accredited school. Grantees must receive college credits for the time period covered by their grant. Early recipients fought for civil rights, against McCarthyism, and for peace in Vietnam. More recently, grantees have been active in the struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression; building the movement for economic justice; and creating peace through international, anti-imperialist solidarity.
