• Licensure track record over several years, not one semester — a single small cohort can swing wildly on one retake.
• Program character — bilingual/classical/integrative/affordable — matched to how you actually want to study.

Five Branches is where this guide lives, so in fairness: it's worth naming directly as a strong option — it has the largest, steadiest first-time cohort of any NorCal TCM school in this analysis (never a single-digit class in five years), degrees from MAcHM through DAOM/PhD, at 1885 Lundy Ave, San Jose and 200 7th Ave, Santa Cruz. But ACCHS, AIMC, and CUSV are real, accredited options too — worth checking directly if classical training, an integrative bent, or lower cost is what matters most to you.
