Five Branches' DAcHM/MAcHM programs include a dedicated Western Medicine department, chaired by Alan Wong, M.D. As the school itself puts it, the goal is that a TCM practitioner can "communicate with medical doctors and other healthcare professionals" and know when a case needs referral — not just treat in isolation. Before you even start the graduate program, you'll also need six natural-science prerequisites from a regionally accredited school — General Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and General Psychology — which build the base the Western Medicine coursework builds on. These can be completed concurrently with the program if one or two are still outstanding when you start, and can be taken at a community college or several accredited online providers.
