Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Take Center Stage at a Community Event
Santa Cruz, CA — October 1, 2026
Five Branches University joined the Cabrillo College community for its Fall Health Festival, bringing the healing traditions of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to students, visitors, and community members.
The Five Branches booth became a welcoming and active space throughout the event. Participants had the opportunity to receive brief, community-style acupuncture treatments, generally lasting 15 to 20 minutes and focused on each person’s primary concern.
Sydney Davis from Five Branches University described the booth as “heavily trafficked,” reflecting the strong interest from festival participants. For many visitors, the experience offered an accessible first introduction to acupuncture and the potential role of TCM in supporting health and well-being.
One of the most meaningful parts of the day was connecting with students who had never experienced acupuncture before. Five Branches student Kelly Zeng shared that it was a privilege to answer questions, help dispel common misconceptions, and introduce the principles and practices behind Chinese medicine.
The event offered more than treatments. It created an opportunity for education, conversation, and connection between Cabrillo College students and the Five Branches community.
Dr. Mariposa Bernstein, the supervising faculty member, described the festival as a “neat opportunity” for both Cabrillo College and Five Branches students. The event helped create a bridge to a field of healing that many participants may not otherwise have had the chance to explore.
